A stepper motor fast shutter was develloped for BioSAXS beamline. It can be used vertically or horizontally and its total aperture is 5 mm (drawing actualy corresponds to 'standard' device used on MX beamines, our is a prototype). In current setup it is used with rotation axis set vertically. The acceptance of the shutter is a bonus because we don’t need any motorized stages to align the device with respect to the X-ray beam.

Two contact-less sensors are reading the position of the rotating piece giving a feedback signal. The shutter is located in the vacuum at beginning of the Experimental hutch as far as possible from sample position to reduce any parasitic scattering from it on detector.

Mesured exposure times and delays after a TTL pulse are shown in graphs below.
