The Networked Interactive Computing Environment (NICE) implements computing infrastructure for the experiments at ESRF to store, manipulate, and process large volumes of data, to do theoretical calculations, simulations and image processing. NICE started in 1994.

Having an account on NICE allows scientists to store experimental data on fast disk storage systems, to process this data on powerful Linux compute clusters, to benefit from both the data backup on tape and high-speed networks, to keep a small amount of private data, and to connect from remote locations via the Internet.
