You will have been scheduled a certain number of days (or shifts) for your experiment (there are 3 shifts in a 24 hour day, one shift is 8 hours). Unless otherwise arranged with your local contact "days" on DUBBLE begin and end at 9 am.
When you are successful in your application for beam time on DUBBLE you will be assigned a "local contact". This person will ensure that you collect the best possible data in your time at ESRF and help you with your data reduction. Often your local contact becomes a scientific collaborator and is then also involved in your data analysis and subsequent publication. Please consult your local contact for all experiment related questions.
Would you need to send your samples prior to your arrival, you can do so using this address:
Name of your local contact
Dutch-Belgian Beamline DUBBLE
ESRF - The European Synchrotron
71, av des Martyrs
CS 40220
38043 Grenoble Cedex 9
France
Should your carrier company need a monetary value information for your samples, please, give zero.
Please arrange for any sample environment needs with your local contact prior to your experiment. This includes both equipment supplied by DUBBLE and user provided apparatus which will need to be mounted on the beam line. Users are requested to provide their own glass capillaries. Please also read the information on using gases.
The ESRF provides accommodation for users during their scheduled beam time. The ESRF Guest House is located on the ESRF site, to the left of the main gate as you enter. Researchers awarded beam time via the Dutch and Flemish research council CRG route are not reimbursed by the ESRF. You will need to pay for your room and then seek reimbursement via the claim form on the NWO web site (scroll to the bottom of the NWO page for the link). Please book your accommodation in the Guest House well in advance of your experiment using the experiment Form A. This is accessed via the ESRF User Portal previously used to submit your proposal.
If there is no single room in the Guest House available, ESRF will either book you a shared room in the Guest House, or book you a single room in a hotel in central Grenoble. Please mark your preference on the Form A.
Guest House phone number: +33 (0)4 38 88 13 00
If you require a telephone in your room to make external calls, you may request a telephone line from the GuestHouse Reception.
Please do not contact the Guest House directly for reservations or modifications to reservations, do this by (re-)submitting the electronic Form A.
Breakfast is served in the Guest House on the ground floor (07h00 to 10h00) 7 days a week.
To eat in the EPN campus canteen (all meals except breakfast) you will need a canteen card. Please mark the request box on Form A.
If you do this you will receive a canteen card in your envelope at the site entrance, but you will need to put money on the card before you can use it. Go to the canteen/cash desk at the entrance to the canteen building before your first meal.
If you forget to request the canteen card before your arrival, you will need to ask for one at the ESRF Reception (ESRF Central Building), between 08h00 and 17h00.
The canteen is open at the following times :
