The main aim of the workshop is to address the challenges facing the GRID when applying it to synchrotron radiation applications.

The GRID means the sharing computer resources for data reduction, data storage and user authentication via the internet. This workshop will be dedicated to how the GRID can be applied to synchrotron radiation users. The workshop will bring together potential GRID users from synchrotron facilities and GRID experts. The main aim of the workshop is to address the challenges facing the GRID when applying it to synchrotron radiation applications. Possible applications will be presented. The use of the GRID for doing online data analysis will be discussed. The GRID as a way of managing users and data will be presented. For each topic the advantages and disadvantages of the GRID will be reviewed. This is the first workshop dedicated solely to the use of the GRID for synchrotron radiation. The workshop is sponsored by WP11 of the ESRFUP FP7 project financed by the EU.
