Programme

Aim and Scope of the workshop:

The investigation of materials under extreme conditions of pressure and temperature using 3rd generation synchrotron sources is an important field in modern condensed matter research. Many scientific breakthroughs have been achieved across fields ranging from Earth and planetary sciences to fundamental physics, chemistry and materials research, and extending into biophysics/biochemistry. This meeting will cover a variety of experimental techniques, including XRD, XAS, inelastic X-ray scattering and nuclear resonance, applied to crystalline, liquid or amorphous materials.
We aim to delineate the state-of-the-art in these wide-ranging fields of research and to establish future directions.

The workshop will consist of approximately 20 invited talks with ample time reserved for questions and discussion and a poster session.

The workshop is open to all interested parties, but the number of participants will be limited to approximately 120.

Participants will be encouraged to present cutting-edge research in the fields of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Earth Science.

The workshop will be divided into 4 sessions:

  • Earth and planetary science
  • Hard condensed matter
  • Chemistry and Biology
  • Frontiers of the field (special session related to the elaboration of the scientific case for phase II)

Deadlines:

  • for poster abstract submission:  15 January 2014 (to be submitted via the electronic registration, not by mail !)
