The primary objective of PRIMES (http://primes.universite-lyon.fr/home/) is to develop new concepts and methods for the exploration, the diagnosis and the therapy of cancer and ageing-related pathologies. PRIMES brings together more than 200 researchers within 16 academic or clinical laboratories covering various fields, from basic physics, instrumentation, radiobiology, image acquisition and processing, to image simulations and modeling supported by supercomputing. A strong topic in WP4 “Multidimensional Image Processing” is related to the inverse problems in image reconstruction which are central to many imaging modalities.

Holography is an imaging principle based on wave diffraction. It has been successfully applied in optics (holographic microscopy, lensless imaging), in X-ray imaging, and in electron microscopy. These different modalities give access to a wide range of resolutions, from macro to nanoscopic scales.

The aim of this workshop is to gather researchers from different fields of holography: optical holography, X-ray holography and electron holography in the attempt of showing the differences and relationships between the techniques. Speakers working in these areas will give an overview of the applications that can be covered by each holography modality. Special focus will then be put on the modelling of hologram formation and on the methods used to perform numerical reconstructions of holograms.
