The workshop took place at the ESRF on Monday 3rd and Tuesday 4th of May. There were 41 invited person attending the meeting, of which 25 where coming from synchrotron facilities and laboratories outside the ESRF.

The workshop was organised in three sessions : the Beamline Control Module session took place on Monday morning, the Automatic Beamline Alignment Session on Monday afternoon and the Database session on Tuesday morning. Each session consisted of four presentations followed by one hour of discussions. At the end of the discussion session on Tuesday morning followed a concluding discussion.

The presentations can be viewed online. The three discussion sessions were very fruitful and the ideas brought forward in these sessions where summarized in the concluding discussion session, where the participants agreed on the following points:

  • One person per BioXHIT site should be assigned site responsible for the topics of the workshop.
  • These projects where identified as topics for future collaborations (the contact persons will be assigned after working groups has been setup for each project):
    • Data model for a beamline.
    • Beamline diagnostics.
    • Beamline simulator.
    • Automatic beamline alignment algorithms.
  • The BioXHIT web site should be exploited as a mean of communication. In the first instance, the part of the web site concerning the workshop and future collaborations should not publicly available. Access granted to any person requested by a BioXHIT partner. The web site should contain:
    • Summaries of meetings.
    • Bulletin board.
    • Minutes of discussions.
