Scanning chemical bonds with X-rays

German public radio Deutsche Welle reports on a new synchrotron technique developed at the ESRF which is sensitive to chemical bonds deep inside the bulk of materials.
The radio report is based on a publication in Nature Materials by a group of scientists from Helsinki University and the ESRF, led by Simo Huotari. The numerous possible applications are outlined by the main author and their potential assessed two German scientists who were interviewed the radio journalist who produced the story.
