Discovery of equilibrium gels

An international team of researchers has
confirmed the existence of so-called “equilibrium gels”, a new
state of soft matter. The publication of their study in Nature Materials, is the fruit of seven years of work during which the slow separation of colloidal suspensions into two phases was observed to confirm that it was indeed possible, as predicted by calculations, to make these suspensions evolve into "arrested", stable structures
