Refractive lenses are one means to focus x-ray or to perform x-ray microscopy. The talk will give an introduction to these lenses: the materials used for x-ray lenses, shapes of 2D and 1D focusing lenses, as well as fabrication methods. In-house developments of refractive x-ray lenses are presented, inparticular the AAMG/XOG aluminum lens press project and 2D kinoform lenses fabricated by 3d printing. Characterisation of x-ray lenses can be conveniently done at BM05, using a speckle tracking technique, and results on first prototypes as well as of normal Be lenses will be shown.
