DUBBLE-II project

DUBBLE-II project

The ESRF - EBS upgrade project has consequences particularly for CRG (bending magnet) beamlines. After the ESRF machine upgrade, planned for 2019/20, it is no longer possible to accommodate two beamlines on a single port and either BM26A or BM26B  beamline must be relocated to a new bending magnet port. There are two reasons to keep BM26B at its current port. First, the SAXS/WAXS beamline has a dedicated experiments hutch that is bespoke and large enough to accommodate a range of camera lengths. Second, the optical components for the SAXS beamline are positioned closer to the new position of the x-ray fan produced by the new source.

The new port for the X-ray spectroscopy beamline is BM14 were a significantly larger experiments hutch is available allowing us to completely renew the dedicated spectroscopy setup with new detectors and expand our combined methods strength. For both beamlines a detailed concept design report is available for download.
