ID03 Support Laboratories
In ID03 there are four laboratories and a mechanical workshop available:
- 'Omicron Chamber' Lab
- Catalysis Lab
- Electrochemistry Lab
- Sample Mounting Lab
- ID03 Workshop
Since April 2014 the two new laboratories attached to the surface diffraction beamline, ID03, are operational:
- the Electrochemistry Laboratory located in the new LOB building (LOB-023, phone extension 6879), which is open to ESRF users and to ESRF staff
- the Catalysis Laboratory located also in the new LOB building (LOB-021, phone extension 6852), which belongs to the ID03 beamline and for the moment, is only available to ID03 users and staff
Omicron Chamber Lab:
- Preparation Chamber for UHV equipments preparation (samples, evaporators, new UHV items). Same sample-holder system and sample-transfer as used at the beamline EH2 chamber.
- Omicron chamber equipped with standard surface science techniques as LEED, XPS, UPS, polar and longitudinal MOKE setup, thickness monitor and Residual Gas Analyser (RGA). Same sample-holder system and sample-transfer as used at the beamline EH2 chamber.
- New preparation UHV chamber (under refurbishment 2014/2015)

Catalysis Laboratory:
The Catalysis Lab is dedicated to one of the main topics of the ID03 beamline including all the catalysis setups developed by the beamline team. The laboratory is used to test the experiment and the samples before going to the beamline. This laboratory includes the flow reactor, the batch reactor and the harsh conditions chamber. It offers all the facilities for sample and UHV items mounting. The laboratory is equipped following all safety rules for gas handling (gas detectors and extraction).

Electrochemistry Laboratory:
The Electrochemistry Lab is an improved version of the old one (Lab 01-0-09) which was dismounted because of the new building construction. It can host two user groups simultaneously with two different fumehoods, and several benches for experiments preparation. We are in the process of acquiring a glove-box for wet environment, jointly with BM01, BM26 and the Delft University, principally dedicated for the research on batteries and fuel cells. The Electrochemistry lab will be managed by the ID03 beamline staff and its access can be demanded using the A-form.

Sample Mounting Lab:
Used for in-vacuum mounting stuff as sample-holders, evaporators, filaments for UHV equipments, etc., this lab is located at the end of the ID03 beamline.
ID03 Workshop (T. Dufrane):
It is mainly used as a mechanical workshop for big setups mounting, cabling and beamline items repair.
