Synopsis
D2AM is a beamline dedicated to structural investigations using anomalous scattering in materials science, with two instruments: a Kappa diffractometer and a small angle scattering camera.

Technical details
An upgrade program is taking place on the French CRG D2AM (BM02) to improve its capabilities in anomalous materials studies. Thus the beamline will be closed to users March-June 2011 for extension of the experimental hutch (adding 3 m). The new hutch will accommodate a new 6-circle diffractometer in kappa geometry from Newport (foreseen for April 2012) and an enlarged SAXS table. A new monochromator, designed for spectroscopy, is also under construction and will be installed on the beamline during the long ESRF winter 2011 shutdown.
