The User Organisation invites nominations for the 2018 Young Scientist Award. The 23rd edition of this traditional prize will be awarded during the User Meeting on 5 - 7 February 2018 and carries prize money of 1500 Euros as well as the production by a professional company of a short promotional video about the winner and his/her research (Amélie Juhin, YSA 2017)

The nominee can be of any nationality, with 2-7 years of experience since completion of PhD (as stated on the PhD certificate), and less than 37 years old on January 1st of the year the award is granted. Furthermore, the relevant research must have been carried out at the ESRF. The selected candidate will be requested to give a talk at the plenary session of the User Meeting on Tuesday, February 6th. Nominations should include:

  1. a short letter of recommendation explaining why the nominee merits the prize,
  2. a brief curriculum vitae of the nominee,
  3. a complete list of publications. Relevant publications, which form the basis for the nomination, should be indicated on the list,
  4. academic referees who can be contacted for further reference if necessary.

 

Deadline

The DEADLINE to send nominations is
SUNDAY 12 NOVEMBER 2017

Nominees over the age-limit, or nominations received after the deadline will NOT be accepted. The nominations will be judged by an international committee of prominent synchrotron radiation scientists. The list of nominees is confidential and only the award-winner will be notified by the end of January 2018 in order to prepare his/her talk for the User Meeting.
