Remote Desktop (Unix)

It is possible to access ESRF Unix computers from outside ESRF through a graphical session using a personal ESRF account.

How to access

Just browse to https://remote.esrf.fr and log in using a personal account (an account attached to a physical person).

Here is the documentation for using the Unix remote access platform, also known as Guacamole. Acessing the documentation from outside ESRF requires you to authenticate using a personal ESRF account.

Quick access guide: log on the platform (using the ESRF SSO), choose your target host, log on the target host (using the host's authentication).

Personal ESRF account

Remote access is allowed only to personal ESRF accounts. It can be an ESRF staff account, or a nominative SMIS account. It must be an account linked to a physical person. Generic accounts or proposal accounts are not allowed for security reasons.

Old NX software

Previous access method using NX software (also known as NoMachine) is now deprecated. The NX client (standalone Windows software) is no longer useful to access ESRF, and can be removed from your computer.
