Fig. 106: Energy scan from a plastic sample measured using the monochromator and analyser Si(11,11,11) reflections in backscattering geometry. The analyser radius is 6000 mm and is operated with an opening of 10 x 10 mrad2.

The energy scans are performed varying the temperature of the backscattering monochromator and keeping the analyser at constant temperature. The count rate is normalised to 100 mA current in the storage ring. Typical current values at the ESRF are at present between 150 and 200 mA. The data points are shown with the statistical error bars. The solid line is a Lorentzian curve, displayed here to determine the indicated fwhm of the experimental data.
