Welcome to the Home Page of the PSDI XV Workshop for 2007 ! Please read all these pages carefully before you register on-line.
The PSDI is organised as an event for Structural Biologists working in Industry to meet and exchange ideas on methods and techniques. The workshop will cover new developments in the areas of biotechnology and pharmacology, focusing on areas of current interest in structure determination. Complementary techniques for developing therapeutic proteins will be presented. There will be breakout sessions covering current issues and problems in the following fields: Protein production, Crystallisation, Macromolecular Crystallography and NMR.
This year the workshop will take place in Autrans, in the Vercors mountains, in beautiful surroundings, about 30 minutes' drive from Grenoble train/coach station.
The conference centre L'Escandille (French text) is set in the heart of the Vercors Regionial Natural Park, at 1000m altitude. The meals of fresh, local produce are served in the panoramic dining room with views over the mountains, the evenings can be spent in the piano bar with cosy armchairs in the alcoves & open fire, the bedrooms are basic but clean & spacious with private WC and shower/bath, and there is a heated, covered pool as well as sauna, squash court & fitness room for relaxing and/or working out after a hard day's workshop.
Please note that the centre opens at 15h on the Sunday, so unfortunately lunch is not possible. However, there are of course several hotels & restaurants in Autrans that will be open.
We are proposing some local activities on the Tuesday afternoon during your free time: a short, easy hike with a bilingual guide, a visit to a local cheese producer or a trip to Choranche caves, famous for its stalactites. You may prefer instead to simply walk in the woods around the centre, or walk into Autrans itself. The mountain village of Autrans is fairly typical of the Vercors plateau with its slate-roofed houses and an agricultural environment surrounded by mountains. There are shops and restaurants around the village square. You can of course purchase local produce if you wish or simply breathe in the clean mountain air !
On Sunday evening, there will be a buffet of regional produce provided by the centre.
As in previous years, we will limit the participants to 120, of which a maximum of 20 exhibitors.
However, you may, if you wish, bring an "accompanying person" who may not attend the actual workshop due to restricted place, but may of course enjoy all the other aspects, such as all meals, Gala Dinner on the Monday evening, coffee breaks, leisure activities at the centre, local visit/walk with guide, etc. The cost for this person is 285€ to share a double room.
Registration will be on a first come, first served basis. Please use the on-line Registration Form to register and you are strongly encouraged to use the secure, on-line payment system (which is part of the Registration Form).
