Accommodation & tips when arriving from Saint Exupery airport
- Most participants stay in The ROYAL Hotel, situated downtown, two minutes away from Grenoble station. Please note that this hotel is FULL now.
An alternative possibility is the Institut Hotel, in front of the station.
Please mention the name of the workshop (HDF5) when making your reservation at the Royal Hotel, so as to benefit from the negotiated preferential rate of 62.00€, breakfast included, free WiFi.
- The Saint Exupery airport shuttle is operated by Faure coaches, and leaves from Level 1, Terminal 1, between departure spots 12/15/16.
If you take the airport shuttle from Lyon St Exupéry (check the time here) and you want to go directly to the hotel, please get off at the final stop at Grenoble station. It will be cheaper if you buy a return ticket (30€) at the airport counter, or if you are in a hurry directly in the shuttle bus.
If you want to go directly to the ESRF, use the bus stops called 'Place de la Résistance' situated close to the roundabout at the 'Pont d'Oxford' (suspension bridge). You must tell the Satobus driver when boarding at the airport that you want to be dropped off at "Place de la Résistance". On Wednesday, you can also take the shuttle back to the airport from this stop, which is a 10 minute-walk away from the ESRF.
