(Listed since version XOP 2.0, released on July 27 2000)

How to proceed to install ALL patches:
  • Install the latest patches for XOP:
In your xop installation, replace the files .../xop2.0/o_modules/*.sav by the files in this directory
  • Install the latest patches for SHADOWVUI:
In your xop installation, replace the file .../xop2.0/extensions/shadowvui/shadowvui_vui.sav by shadowvui_vui.sav

  • Reference: Bug #1
  • Module/Extension: XOP-DABAX (xf1f2,xpower)
  • Platforms: ALL
  • Description: The mirror reflectivity calculations for COMPOUNDS (not for elements) is wrong. It should be calculated from the global f' obtained from the average (in weight) of the compound elements. XOP calculates fist the reflectivities of the elements and then makes the average in reflectivities, which is wrong, because the average must be done in f's not in reflectivities.
  • Workaround: NOT EXISTING
  • Patch: Install the latest XOP patch: In your xop installation, replace the files .../xop2.0/o_modules/*.sav by the files in this directory The problems with compounds seem to have been solved for reflectivity. However, there are still problems for mixtures and it may present problems the calculation of attenuation cross sections for both compounds and mixtures.
  • Date: Set 2000, patched March 2001

  • Reference: Bug #2
  • Module/Extension: SHADOWVUI
  • Platforms: ALL
  • Description: In the geometrical source, one entry below the "angular distribution" item does not accept modifications (i.e., if you change the value, the new entered value is not considerered): For "Uniform" type the "Vertical Divergence" entry For "Gaussian" type the "Vertical Limit" entry
  • Workaround: i) Switch to "flat" type and enter your wanted value in the "Vertical divergence" entry. Click "Accept". ii) Switch back to your wanted type of angle distribution (i.e., Uniform of Gaussian). The value entered previously is now in the "Vertical Divergence" or "Vertical Limit" (for Uniform of Gaussian types, respectively).
  • Patch: Install the latest Shadowvui patch: In your xop installation, replace the file .../xop2.0/extensions/shadowvui/shadowvui_vui.sav by shadowvui_vui.sav
  • Date: Nov 2000

  • Reference: Bug #3
  • Module/Extension: SHADOWVUI
  • Platforms: ALL
  • Description: Loading workspaces from older ShadiwVui versions give errors.
  • Workaround: NONE
  • Patch: Install the latest Shadowvui patch: In your xop installation, replace the file .../xop2.0/extensions/shadowvui/shadowvui_vui.sav by shadowvui_vui.sav
  • Date: Nov 2000

  • Reference: Bug #4
  • Module/Extension: SHADOWVUI
  • Platforms: Only windows?
  • Description: Sometimes the workspace cannot be saved. This is quite random and always happens for workspaces with more than one elements. In fact, when adding an elements, ShadowVui asks: "The new o.e. may have either the default values or the values copied from the selected o.e. (#xx). Dou you want to copy the values from the selected o.e.?". If you answer "No" it is possible that you get the mentioned error when saving the workspace. It says: "SHADOW_SAVEWS: Error caught: Conflict data structures: ,SYSTEM"
  • Workaround: Answer always "Yes" to the mentioned question.

  • Reference: Bug #5
  • Module/Extension: All XOP applications that call binaries
  • Platforms: Hewlett-Packard Series 700
  • Description: XOP 2.0 applications have been compiled in a hp series 800 machine. Therefore, the binaries do not run in series 700. A new set of binaries compiled in a hp700 machine will be made available soon.
  • Workaround: NOT EXISTING

  • Date: Set 2000

  • Reference: Bug #6
  • Module/Extension: Some XOP applications that call binaries
  • Platforms: Windows 95 and 98
  • Description: Some XOP applications (WS, XUS, XTC, XXCOM and XINPRO) do not work under w95 and w98 due to a problem of compilation (they do run in wNT and w2K). New recompiled binaries will be made available soon.

  • Reference: Bug #7
  • Module/Extension: XUS
  • Platforms: All
  • Description: After calculating flux or power density versus slit distance or versus angle (mode option 1 or 6), the "Xus|Show|Plot 3D Surface" option fails to read the output file.
  • Workaround: NOT EXISTING
