Welcome to the ESRF home page of
ANA-ROD
On these web pages you can find documentation about and download the latest
versions of the ANA, AVE and ROD programs originally
written by Elias Vlieg (e.vlieg@science.ru.nl) for MS-DOS and later modified at
the ESRF in order to run on different operating systems as well. They are
available for Windows (2000/XP/Vista/7, using MinGW-w64) and for several versions
of UNIX (Linux 64 bit and Mac OS X on Intel hardware).
There are two different distributions available, one "standard" that is up to
date with the latest version of Elias Vlieg, and one "extended" where new but
not fully tested features have been incorporated.
These web pages are divided into the following categories:
Information and manuals for the standard version
Information and manuals for the extended version

News 20/12/2011:
A new version of ANAROD (standard 1.5, extended 1.7) has been released with the
following features:
- ANA (extended version only): corrected several bugs in the fitting
routines
- ANA (extended version only): added new commands "reset" and "select" to
the "SET FITTING PARAMETERS" menu
- ANA (extended version only): added a new format for the reading of SPEC
files
- AVE: increased maximum number of data points from 2000 to 5000
- ROD (extended version only): included anomalous dispersion corrections
- ROD (extended version only): increased maximum number of atoms in model
from 1000 to 5000
- ROD (extended version only): updated and completed the information in the
manual
Rasmol extensions to ROD
- The ANAROD versions for Solaris and Linux 32 bit have been
discontinued
- For the WINDOWS version, CYGWIN was replaced by MinGW-w64 as development
basis to avoid the problems with incompatible versions of the CYGWIN
runtime library "cygwin1.dll". Now the ANA, AVE and ROD executables depend
only on dynamic libraries from MS-WINDOWS
- The CYGWIN libraries "cygwin1.dll" and "cygncurses-8.dll" are therefore no
longer needed and have been removed from the ANAROD distribution
- Menu interface: for the WINDOWS version, with MinGW a different system for
handling the terminal interface had to be used. It works fine for a
standard WINDOWS command terminal (including resizing), but cannot handle
some of the more complicated terminal configurations
- Plot interface: cleaned up the handling of background / foreground colors,
and made sure that no element of the plot (text, axes, curves, data) can
have the same color as the background
- Plot interface: re-defined several colors of the color menu, as they do
not exist in the standard "rgb.txt" color file
- Plot interface: for the WINDOWS version, add documentation in
README_GNUWIN.txt about the options that
can be set in the initialization file "grwnd.ini" of the graphics
server
