HST_SLAVE

   

The ``slave'' program simply takes the name of a parameter file as a command line  parameter. This parameter file will normally have been created and output by hst_master.

The reconstruction process is most efficient if only one process runs at a time. Thus on 'alpha' and 'beta' batch queues have been set-up to store requests for reconstruction and to automatically run each request when the previous one has finished. (Originally the Unix command at was used, which was set up to run only one job at a time, but unfortunately at does not treat requests in ``first in first out'' order !)

If you have a dedicated system e.g. a PC, you can use the command:

hst_slave recon.par

to run the recon.par parameter file.

(This assumes that the ``path'' has been set up appropriately.)

On Windows systems it is possible to associate hst_slave with a file extension, so that clicking on the parameter files will automatically run hst_slave with that parameter file.

The reconstruction should then start immediately, with output in the terminal window indicating the progress of the reconstruction. If graphics display has been requested then a graphics window will also be opened, and periodically reconstructed slices will be displayed.
