Overall Concept
On the instrumentation side the main objective of the project is to create an environment of tools capable of enter in mechanical relation with nano-objects via a tuneable tool-object interaction. This interaction is based on Force Feedback Devices (FFD), associated to acoustic and visual rendering, the whole being coupled to a simulator. The final goal is to associate to the real nanoscene as detected by the tools, its virtual representation where the experimentalist will apply his/her human senses to determine the more suitable manipulation strategy. Once the strategy defined, an automatic procedure will execute it in the real world.
With this instrument it will be possible to characterize the intrinsic properties of singled out nano-objects and understand their modification under controlled mechanical actions at the nanometre scale.
