Modelling
The mere knowledge of the shape of an object or even of its texture and hardness cannot give much information without the integration on a model.
Given the complexity of the interactions and the number of parameters that intervene in defining the properties of an object the definition of a model is not without a good dose of ambiguity. Modelling is a vast development area in science and the modelling of object from their perception is just at its infancy (ref needed).
In the frame of the PianHo project modelling is defined in two categories:
Modelling of the interaction process itself, in order to analyse the development of an active sequence and determine the most appropriate transfer function.
Modelling of the physical system object of the action. Here the situation opens to the most complicated scenarios and the modelling can run from the basic atomistic level to more complicated representation of the continuum.
