PSB Young Investigator Award

The Partnership for Structural Biology (PSB) of the EPN campus, Grenoble, France, is pleased to announce the creation of the PSB Young Investigator Award, which will be awarded biennially to give recognition to scientists having made exceptional contributions to research in structural biology that benefited from the PSB and its facilities. The PSB now invites nominations for the first edition to be awarded in July 2019 (deadline March 8th 2019).

Award

The Award winner will receive a prize of 2000€ and will be invited to give a talk on their research at the PSB symposium which will take place on 4-5 July 2019 (travel and expenses paid).

Application process

Nominations should include:

  • A letter of nomination (max 1 page) explaining the achievements and how the PSB has been important to the work of the nominee.
  • A curriculum vitae of the nominee (including fellowships and grants if applicable). Max 2 pages.
  • A complete list of publications.

Nominations should be sent by email to psbaward@esrf.fr by 8th March 2019. The candidates will be judged and selected by an external scientific panel according to the following criteria:

  • Scientific excellence and interdisciplinarity
  • Relevance of the PSB to the achievements of the nominees.

The award-winner will be informed by end of April 2019.

Eligibility criteria

In order to be eligible the nominees must:

  • Not have been employed by one of the PSB Partners for at least two years before the 1st January 2019.
  • Have benefited significantly from the range of PSB facilities.
  • Have obtained a PhD or equivalent since less than 10 years on 1st January 2019. (Parental leaves, military service and other exceptional circumstances excluded).
  • Be available for a presentation during the PSB Symposium on 4-5 July 2019.
