Hard samples. Classical dimensions: 40 mm in height, 6 or 8 mm in width and 300 µm in thickness. Sample inserted in a boron nitride crucible made of two plates held by molybdenum clips

Beam used is white beam or monochromatic. Pink beam could be used in the future. Entrance windows of the furnace are made of thin Al (0.5 mm) foils. The beam enters the windows perpendicularly.

At the exit, the direct and diffracted beams within a 60° cone are recorded. A window of thin Al (0.5 mm) is used as for the entrance. 

Sample change is very rapid (few minutes) after cool down of the furnace. Samples are moved up in the sample introduction chamber, the windows between this chamber and the furnace chamber are closed. Nitrogen is sent inside the sample introduction chamber to be able to open the window and change the sample. Including the cooling down of the samples, about 3 to 4 hours are needed.

The furnace is equipped with vacuum sensors, three pyrometers for temperature control and measurement. One thermocouple can be added for additional measurement.

The sample is maintained under vacuum during heating. It is under nitrogen only during removal and introduction.
