PRINCIPLES


An ESRF User is a scientist or a member of a team carrying out a peer-reviewed experiment to which beam time has been allocated.

Who receives an ESRF financial assistance?

  •  Users affiliated to universities and publicly funded laboratories of ESRF contracting party (member) countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Hungary, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom),
  • Users from non-publically subsidised laboratories (i.e.: private companies,...) participating in a peer-reviewed experiment,

will be reimbursed or funded by the ESRF for travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses directly related to the experiment:

 
The ESRF does not give a financial assistance
(for travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses) to:

  • users from institutions not belonging to one of the contracting party (member) countries,
  • users carrying out experiments for proprietary research,
  • users working in a laboratory located in Grenoble, even if living outside Grenoble;
    They will however receive a pre-charged canteen card if this is requested on the A Form.

How many users receive a financial assistance per experimental session?

  • Up to 3 persons for a standard experiment,

  • Up to 4 persons for the following categories of proposals: BAG proposals, Long Term Project proposals and Red Experiments,
  • Up to 3 persons for SANS-SAXS experiments (ILL/ESRF Joint Proposals) - see details below

 receive a contribution towards expenses within the limits set out above.

Other users may be included in the experimental team, but these persons will need to find their own funding.

Arrangements & Reimbursement rules specific to SANS-SAXS Experiments (ILL/ESRF "Joint Proposals" )

Eligible users will be subsidised for travel, accommodation and subsistence expenses for a period of the duration of both the SAXS and SANS experiments, including the time overlap (max number of days is: 4), plus 3 days according to current ESRF reimbursement procedures.

Up to 3 people per SANS-SAXS joint experiment can be reimbursed.
