Closure of ID18F

last modified 22-07-2010 09:31

The Microanalysis End-Station ID18F will be closed from 1st March 2011. As a result, ID18F will not be open for new proposals for the 1st September 2010 proposal submission deadline and subsequent deadlines.

Proposals in the field of hard X-ray microanalysis (consisting in the combination of X-ray fluorescence, X-ray absorption spectroscopy, diffraction and 2D/3D X-ray imaging techniques) should be submitted to beamline ID22 in the future. Two stations are clearly identified on ID22 according to the spatial resolution required: the EH1 microprobe devoted to micro-spectroscopy and the ID22NI nanoprobe used for nano-analysis.

Beamtime available on ID22 for allocation to new proposals will be increased following the closure of the ID22N Nuclear Resonance end-station and should help alleviate oversubscription on this beamline in the future.
