Fig. 18: Cell component deformation. At 300 GPa only a few µm² of very thin sample (maximum X-ray transmission at the peak) are left on the tip of the diamonds which are surrounded by a thicker ring of rhenium gasket (the «blue lagoon») filling the elastically caved-in diamond and thinning out again as the edges of the larger diameter second bevel resist deformation (the 16-sided orange «coral ring»).
