The Detector & Electronics Group provides hardware support to the ESRF in the areas of electronics, detectors and control equipment. Support activities includes both general interest and application specific projects as well as assistance for the day-to-day operation. Projects include the selection and caracterisation of commercial equipment, development of specific instrumentation. A special effort is put in the standardisation of instrumentation to cope with the diversity of the applications at the ESRF and increase the efficiency of the facility.

The group also manages and operates the Instrument Pool, a service that provides a wide range of on-loan equipment to the beamlines in the fields of detectors and electronics.
