Instrumentation problems on the beamline

Problems can range from an error while using SPEC, a VME which will refuse to boot, or an analysis package. There are obviously very few people which can solve all these problems single handedly. Here comes the BLC Helpdesk in. The person that you will contact is perhaps not able to solve the problem himself, but he/she will delegate the task.

During WORKING HOURS

  1. Call 4004 this is the ISDD Beam Line Control Helpdesk. ISDD will do the utmost to provide help in the working hours.
  2. Send an e-mail to the Beam Line Control Helpdesk

OUTSIDE WORKING HOURS

The calls to 4004 will be forwarded to the floor coordinator, who will contact the BCU On-Call service.

Unix and network problems.

If you are experiencing computing problems of a general nature with Unix or the network or printing,  contact the following people:

  • if it is between 9:00 and 17:00 hours on a week day phone the Computing Services hotline (2424).
  • or contact your local beamline software contact person

Online Documentation.

For more general help you can try to find information in BLISS documentation pages. The BLISS Wiki pages probably contain the most information.
