Software problem on the beamline

Problems can range from an error while using SPEC, a VME which will refuse to boot, or an analysis package. There are obviously very few people which can solve all these problems single handedly. There is a number of ways to get help. The order in which they are presented here it is the logical order to proceed. The person that you will contact is perhaps not able to solve the problem himself but he will know who could do it.

During WORKING HOURS

  1. contact your local beamline software contact person
  2. if 1 can not be found try to call any other member of the BLISS group. One of these will be able to help you or find someone else who can help you.
  3. Send an e-mail to Mail BLISS
  4. If neither 1 nor 2 reply then beep the floor coordinator (25.25) and the person on-call will help you to find someone who can help you.
  5. If still you do not get a response then call the beamline scientist, CS hotline (24.24) and whoever else you can think of.

OUTSIDE WORKING HOURS

Call the floor coordinator. He/she has a list of person on standby and knows the way to contact them.

Unix and network problems.

If you are experiencing computing problems of a general nature with Unix or the network contact the following people:
  • if it is between 9:00 and 17:00 hours on a week day phone the Computing Services hotline (2424).
  • or contact your local beamline software contact person
