RGA

This Balzers Residual Gas Analyser is capable of determining partial gas pressures ranging from 10-4 to 10-2 mbar. The RGA is used for monitoring thermal desorption processes and leak detection.

E-beam Evaporator

In this Omicron electron beam evaporator, materials with high melting temperatures (up to 3300°C) are either evaporated from a bar or from a rod by electronic bombardment heating. Sub-mono-layer up to multilayer deposition is possible with high precision under clean conditions with only slight increases of background pressure.

Room Temperature STM

The Omicron scanning tunneling microscope with a tripod scanner has a lateral resolution of 0.2 nm and a vertical resolution better than 5 pm (z-direction). The typical scanning area is 300 x 300 nm, in size. The 1D coarse motion of the tip runs horizontally with respect to the sample plate, whose position is indicated by the yellow bar in the image. Spring suspension and eddy current damping guarantee an effective mechanical decoupling from the environment for highest resolution scanning.
