HAXPES Chamber (EH2)
The HAXPES chamber is made of Mu-metal allowing the detection of low energy electrons. It is installed on a rigid support structure allowing height adjustment using stepper motors control. The chamber is mounted on a platform, which can be rotated around the vertical axis, allowing to vary the X-rays beam polarization direction with respect to the high energy analyser entrance. This is a commercial hemispherical analyser from SPECS that allows the detection of electrons with kinetic energies up to 15 keV with a nominal resolution of ΔE/E down to 10-6. It can be operated with different lens modes, some of them specifically adapted to small X-rays beam sizes. The analyser entrance is also made of Mu-metal. It is equipped with a low noise 2D delayline detector, suitable for low countrates detected in high resolution studies. The external size of the analyser is about 80 cm in diameter.

The HAXPES chamber is in the 10-10 mbar range, which is guaranteed by a Varian 400 l/s ion pump and a Pfeiffer 400 l/s turbo pump.
It is equipped with:
- A SPECS-Phoibos 225 electron analyser for HAXPES studies
- An XYZ sample manipulator (temporary) with one rotation. All motions are stepper motor driven
- A SPECS rear view LEED-Optics
- A SPECS electron flood gun for XPS studies of insulating samples
- A SPECS differentially pumped sputtering gun for sample preparation
- A SPECS He ultraviolet light source (UPS) for valence band spectroscopy
- A PHI electron gun
- A load-lock chamber with a transfer rod to introduce samples into the main chamber under UHV conditions
- A three way gas line for different gases, including He gas for the UPS light source
- A residual gas analyser, RGA
- Some spare ports for user defined equipments
