Diffractometer (EH1)
General Description
The beamline is equipped with a Huber 6-circle diffractometer. This allows use of the 'baby' chambers (UHV sample environment) and other sample cells for Surface XRD, and X-ray standing waves. Diffractometer control is carried out using SPEC.

Diffractometer "Huber Tower" geometry
The diffractometer can be operated with a "Huber tower" on the theta (th) circle, using the sixc SPEC session. In this mode, the sample-weight capacity is up to about 100kg. In this geometry the sample normal is vertical and tilting the whole diffractometer table allows working in Grazing Incidence Diffraction.

Diffractometer with "Kappa circle" geometry
The diffractometer can also be operated with the sample on the "kappa" circle. In this case, the sample-weight capacity is about 10kg. The diffractometer can then be operated in:
- 4-circle geometry: the sample normal is in the horizontal plane and the detector horizontal rotation is used as 2θ
- 2+3 geometry where the Kappa circle is extended to take the position of the Huber Tower. This geometry gives access to higher incidence angles than the Huber Tower geometry.
