ID13 has recently upgraded its laboratory microscopy facilities with the addition of a new Olympus BW51WI microscope. To compliment the existing equipment, the new microscope is equipped with fluorescence cubes making it capable of performing fluorescence microscopy. It will also assist with the mounting of small samples for diffraction, as well as providing general imaging capabilities.

The new microscope features a digital camera, motorised sample positioning stage, and both mercury and halogen illumination (transmitted and reflected). It is installed with a range of objectives (up to 100x mag.), and standard filters.

This upgrade demonstrates that the ID13 beamline is committed to the expansion of complimentary scientific facilities available to the users.
