ID13 has recently commissioned a new long gauge-length single-fibre stretching cell for in-situ deformation experiments. The cell can be controlled by a PC outside of the experimental hutch and is capable of recording mechanical behaviour during testing. The custom-written software permits various modes of operation including the ability to maintain constant stress during X-ray exposures.

The image above shows a model of the stretching cell with the key components labelled. The image on the left shows the actual cell in use on the beamline. The cell is designed to be compatible with all existing ID13 optics, including the KBII mirror chamber (as shown). A user guide is available in PDF format giving the cell specifications and sample preparation instructions upon request.
