FReLoN camera available at ID13

ID13 has now taken delivery of a new FReLoN camera to suppliment the existing detector range. The FReLoN (Fast-Readout Low-Noise) camera is an ESRF development which has already proved popular with other beamlines.

The advantages offered by the new camera are 10Hz readout frequency and single photon counting capability. This is expected to open up new areas of research on the beamline such as time-resolved studies. The fact that shorter scan times will limit radiation damage is also expected to be significant for less-robust materials.
