Monochromator controller

The monochromator on ID14-4 is now controlled through SPEC (OH2 session) using an ESRF standard IcePAP. The IcePAP is located in the bottom of the rack nearest the stairs.

Occasionally (1-2 times per year) you will see a 'Problem with mono. unable to move energy" error in MxCuBE when you trying to move the energy or do an energy scan. While in SPEC (OH2) you might see the following:

Can't move UNUSABLE motor 1, unit 1, "mono".

motion canceled

can't connect to iceid143: No route to host

This generally occurs when the IcePAP on ID14-4 loses it's connection to the network. If you want to use the beamline you need to reboot the "icepap". It's on the bottom rack nearest the stairs to the ID14-4 control cabin. The power switch is in the back. You should then log onto deino as blissadm and start the IcePAP control GUI application "icepapcms". Check that the connection to iceid143 is ok with this GUI. A simple reconfig in OH2 spec should then do the trick. The mono may have lost a few steps so recalibrate it by doing an X-ray flouresence energy scan using the Selenate sample in the fridge or by simply type "egycal" in the OH2 spec session and answering the questions (choose the Pt L3 edge).
