14-4 Specific Issues

last modified 24-01-2011 17:08

Below is a list of problems that may occur on the beamline with some solutions to get you out of trouble. Help us to diagnose what might have happened by making detailed descriptions in the beamline logbook on the problems and solutions you used. Some of the problems users have had could not be reproduced at all by us due to lack of proper descriptions. This doesn't help for finding better solutions in the future. Always remember that if it is after 10pm at night, unless the Local Contact has given you explicit permission to call later, go to bed and get in touch with the Local Contact the following morning. The Hall Operators (2525) can often help in the first instance:

Are the images completely white? If so  check out the "Blank images" page.

Beam Viewers

Problem with the X-ray beam. You can visually check the beam position along the beamline using our Beam viewers. See our 'Beam Viewer' section for more details.

Monochromator control

Occasionally we have problems where the monochromator will not move. We have written a detailed solution for this in the 'Monochromator control' section.
