Data processing and EDNA
To print use lp -d Printer name filename_to_print. e.g. lp -d a4bid141 blah.ps
The MX group beamlines have a mixture of computers and operating systems. The links on the left should contain most of the information needed during your experiments.
Use "Experiment control PCs" only for beamline operations - Don't process data or mount firewire disks on it.
Use "Clusters" for data processing.
Use "terminal and backup PCs" as an Xterminal for "Clusters", for graphics (O etc), and for DVD-R/RW and firewire backups (use 'jdm').
Use "Meteor card containing Windows PCs" for X-ray visualisation camera (beamline staff). Use also for backup to external USB2 disks, web surfing, etc. Please do not install any software on it.
There are a number of computers on the MX group beamlines. The list below contains all of them with specifications and role. With Ganglia you could estimate the load of the machine you would like to use.
Root passwords of MX computers are available here to local contacts only. You only need to be root on Suse Linux machines to reboot them. For ESRF linux machines simply log out and on the log in screen there are options to shutdown and reboot.
