BM26 - DUBBLE - Dutch-Belgian beamline
| Photo: ARTECHNIQUE | A couple of Pilatus detectors are currently available for SAXS and WAXS measurements on the SAXS/WAXS beamline (see the News (below) and page SaxsWaxs) |
The DUBBLE project operates two beam lines. Mainly for researchers in the remit of the Dutch and Flemish research councils but 30% of the beam time is available for general ESRF users. The main techniques are time-resolved SAXS/WAXS and EXAFS. The latter technique can also be performed in a time-resolved mode.
The SAXS/WAXS beam line uses a large proportion of the time for soft condensed matter research although users of many other research fields, like geology, mineralogy, metallurgy, etc. are also regular visitors.
The EXAFS beam line is specialised in on-line catalysis experiments but this is definitely not the only type of experiments that are carried out here. Several complementary techniques can be performed simultaneously with the EXAFS experiments.

News from DUBBLE

On 28-29 June a SAXS/SANS school will be organized at Delft University.
This school is intended for, among else, users of the DUBBLE beamlines.

- On BM26A a collimating mirror is installed. This mirror will be commissioned in the two weeks after the ESRF upgrade shutdown.
- On April 1st 2012 Dipanjan Banerjee will make a transfer from the ROBL beamline and will join the DUBBLE team.
- The new GDA software has been successfully tested on the SAXS
beamline and will be fully operational when the beam returns after
the shutdown. The new software was required since the older data
acquisition software relied on, by now, obsolete hardware.
The old software, although not always working flawless, had been used on the beamline since the startup of the SAXS beamline without the requirement of major upgrades or maintenance. The original programmers who created this piece of software deserve our applause for this.
