Accessing the MD2 software

The connection to the PC (microdiff29) where the MD2 software is running can be established by clicking once on the icon 'VNC to microdiff' on the right screen of the control computer (p1-id29).

Beam defining Aperture

If you intend to change the Beam defining Aperture size, in order to use a smaller beam you need to access the MD2 software. Go to Devices-->Aperture and choice the aperture that you wish to use. Check with the scintillator that the Aperture is well aligned on the beam.

MD2 Troubleshooting

To reinitialize the micro-diffractometer motors position type microdiff_init() in the spec(exp) windows.

To fix occasional problem with the centering you can reinitialize the zoom motor by typing  zoom_init() in spec(exp).

On the botton of the PC where the MD2 GUI is running, there are three icons to restart I) the notifd demon, II) the MD2 device server and III) the MD2 GUI incl. the device server. Double-clicking on on of those icons starts the procedure.

Alternatively, you can start/stop the MD2 Device Server by accessing the microdiff29 PC and Tools --> Device Server --> Start/Stop

If the image display in mxCuBE is stuck (and it is working in the MD2 software) the video server need to be restarted, in a shell type

"bliss_dserver restart Falcon id29"

and restart mxCuBE.
