This page is supposed to give a short and rough overview on the computers of ID29 and how they are used.

  I) Experimental Hutch

microdiff29:   windows PC, used to run the microdiffractometer (MD2) software.

PCSC3-ID29:  windows PC, used to run the sample changer device server and the sample changer GUI

both computers are located in the rack on the right side next to the detector controller.

They can be accessed through the switch (right of the screen). They share the same keyboard and monitor. Both can be accessed through VNC with their appropriate names.

pilatus29: Pilatus detector PC for acquisition

 II) Control Cabin

p1-id29:         this is the control computer. SPEC(OH) is running on this machine as well as the device servers for

                              A) the calculation server,

                              B) the HardwareRepositoryServer,

                              C) the ISPyB server,

                              D) the historical data base (HDB) server,

                              E) the StoreServer,

                              F) the server for the autocentering routine in mxCuBE and

                             G) the device server needed to perform the pipeline mode in

                                 mxCuBE.

ALL device servers can only be stopped/started when logged in as blissadm. DO NOT restart this machine without being told.

WID2910:        this Windows machine should be used purely for data back-up (drag'n'drop mode) and which the video streamer should be running.

i4-id29:          this linux computer is closest to the back-up room. This is the latest linux machine and can be used for fast data processing.

mx29:                 is the linux machine in front of the entrance door. This connects to the ID29 cluster VIN. All data processing and structure solution can be peformed here (although the linux cluster in the back-up room is faster).

inside the glass cabinet in the back of p1-id29 there are two linux machines:

lid292:            on this machine the SPEC(EXP) session as well as all the device servers are running that are needed to perform the experiment. ALL device servers can only be stopped/started when logged in as blissadm.

III) Back-up Room

pc29data:        use this linux machine for data processing and structure solution (all PXSOFT software should be running here) and to back-up your data.
