ID14-4 Current Problems

We're two recurring problems at the moment that are under investigation.

The first is with the sample changer communication to MxCuBE. The usual symptom is that you cannot load/unload a sample. It usually gives up after 1 minute and reports 'ready' in purple back to MxCuBE. If you see this please call your LC or Fabien (2759) or Hugo (2953) if it is before 5pm. Otherwise please first try restarting the software (SC3 device server, the EH4 SPEC session and MxCuBE) to overcome the problem. However, if you are still having problems you can overcome the problem by disabling the MD in the 'config' menu on SC3 sample changer touch panel. THIS IS NOT OPTIMAL AS NO HARDWARE CHECKS ARE DONE DURING MOUNTING SO MONITOR THAT THE LIGHT, BEAMSTOP, and FLUORESCENCE DETECTOR ARE NOT IN THE WAY.

The second problem is less frequent and only occurs during an energy scan. Just proceed normally, but if the software reports that the appropriate attenuation could not be found then check in the EH4 SPEC session (blue screen) that there are at least some counts (not '0', even 1 or 2 is fine). If they are all '0' then we suggest you restart the 'McaRontec' running on lid144, type 'reconfig' in the EH4 SPEC session and redo the scan.
