2008

  • miniKappa available all the time on the phi axis
  • Long beam stop to improve data collection.
  • Automated annealing system.
  • Remote access available for users
  • 2007

  • Gigabit network installation to speed up data backup on windows PC.
  • Capillary backstop with aperture installed. Possible to collect data to below 50Å. Must be carefully aligned of course.
  • Axis video server installed (only visible on-site). Live video feed of sample, sample changer and hutch over intranet. Linux PC (masala) in control cabin permanently displaying output.
  • New data processing/data backup PC running ESRF linux installed (pc141data). 2 x dual core 3.0Ghz XEON processors, 2Go RAM, USB2.0 for connection of backup disks.
  • 2006

  • Not in beam at moment - will return in near future: Compound refractive lenses installed in optics hutch after diamond monochromator - 20% increase in beam intensity.
  • ADSC Q210 detector installed. Current attainable maximum resolution 0.95Å. 22 frames per minute possible (for 1o/sec, 1 pass).
  • MUSST Card installed for improved shutter synchronisation and data logging.
  • Old linux pc (mesange) replaced with dual processor pc (patia) running ESRF linux 1.1.1.

    2005

  • New data collection interface implemented - mxCube.
  • Sample Changer installed.
  • Minidiffractometer installed.
  • Pop-up X-ray camera installed on detector in hutch. X-ray viewing camera installed after diamond.
  • Oxford 700 series cryostream installed.

    2004

  • Information on Sample Changers here.
  • Wago device server problem. This occurs occassionally. You will see an error message in prodc and the attenuators and backlight on button box won't work.
  • Importance of Cryostream Position...
  • On-axis viewer (OAV) installed for improved crystal viewing and centring.
  • pyspy installed on hpcc12 for monitoring cryostream status and lN2 level. Type pyspy.
  • Data processing scripts for MOSFLM and XDS automatically created in a process subdirectory. This directory and all its subdirectories are automatically generated with the correct permissions for use on all data processing computers at the ESRF.
  • New 10 processor linux clusters available for users: jane (Redhat) and tarzan (SUSE) to complement gorilla and p3-id29.

    2003

  • DNA installed on beamline control computer. Interfaces with prodc to automate indexing and strategy of crystals.
  • Control computer upgraded to dual processor linux box with dual screen.
  • New computers for ADSC detector.
  • For LCs gp_align macro added for quick and easy beam alignment.
