Results
The following examples give an overview of the work in micro tomography that has been done at ID 22 so far.
Boron Fiber
Reconstructed cross-section through a 100 micron boron fiber with a 15 micron tungsten-borite core, reconstructed from 700 phase-contrast images in 5 cm recording distance (E=20 keV) |
Three dimensional visualization of the broken tip of the fiber. A block has been cut out to show the inner structure of the fiber
Polystyrene Sphere
Reconstructed cross-section through a 120 micron polystyrene (C8H8) sphere with small air inclusions from 625 projections in 3 mm distance (E=20 keV). From the size of thereconstructed inclusions (1.3 micron) an upper estimate for the spatial resolution of the tomography setup can be made.
3D rendering of the sphere. The support, a glass capillary is visible.
Foraminifera
Projection image of a borelias pulchra foraminifera at 20 keV and 5 cm distance. There are too many internal details to obtain information from a single projection |
Reconstructed cross-section from 1500 projections
