Sample scanning & alignment
The sample is mounted in air on a sample stage consisting of one rotation and three translation motor-stages. With the rotation stage the angle of incidence to the sample surface can be varied on a vertical axis. The sample can be fully aligned into the image or focal plane of the focusing optics and can then be raster scanned in the horizontal and vertical directions with the three translation stages. The horizontal and vertical scanning range is 50 mm x 50 mm. The minimum step-sizes of the horizontal and vertical translation stages are 1 micron and 0.1 microns, respectively. A sample of several tens of mm maximum size can be either fixed onto a slide frame holder or onto a goniometer head.
Special sample environments such as heating or cooling stages may be compatible with the instrument upon consultation.
