Schematic lay-out of the ID18 beamline and the ID18F user end-station

ID18F is situated in the third experimental hutch of the ID18 Nuclear Resonance Beamline and uses its 3 undulators and high heatload fixed exit double crystal Si(111) monochromator to create a tunable monochromatic excitation beam in the 6-28 keV energy range.

Scientific applications: Scanning X-ray Fluorescence Microscopy and Microdiffraction (WAXS & SAXS)
Micro-focusing elements: Compound refractive lenses (CRL)
Size of the focused beam (V x H): 1.5 microns x 12 microns
Detectors: Si(Li) detector
Si photodiodes, ionization chamber
High resolution CCD camera
2D diffraction CCD camera
Beamline control: SUN (Solaris) Ultra-Sparc 5, SPEC control software for optics and experimental setup with TCP/IP network connection in experimental hutches

During each experimental run 65-70 shifts (1 shift=8 hours) in 2/3 or uniform filling mode is allocated for user experiments. The application for measurement time is the standard ESRF procedure.
