High Field Magnet

A superconducting magnet with ±5 Tesla field, 7 K to 300 K sample temperatures, 10-10 mbar vacuum. UHV load lock / transfer system with surface cleaning and thin film growth facilities.

XPS end station

Based on a PHI XPS hemispherical analyser with a Mott detector for spin analysis. This analyser has a +20 degree angular acceptance and 16 channel multi-channel detector giving 10MHz count rates. A UHV chamber with LEED, thin film facilities and a sample transfer system.

 


The experimental area is very flexible. User groups may wish to bring their own instruments to the beamline and they are encouraged to do so. We recommend prospective users to contact the beamline staff to discuss experiments prior to submission of proposals.
