The annual event dedicated to the ESRF user community:

Learn about, discuss and experience the science and cutting-edge research made with ESRF synchrotron light

PROGRAMME

2016 is a busy year for the ESRF! The March and September proposal submission deadlines saw a total of 2401 proposals received, and activity in the first half of 2016 indicates that a record number of experiments will be carried out and a record number of users welcomed to the ESRF. In addition, the ESRF-EBS project to completely construct and commission a new “Extremely Brilliant Source” is in full swing. The construction of the first of a new generation of low emittance, high energy synchrotrons, which will boost the brilliance and coherence of the X-rays, is a strategic project for the future of the ESRF and its user community. In December 2016 dedicated workshops will take place at the ESRF to select and prioritise the new beamline projects which can best take advantage of the new source, and a full session in the afternoon of the User Meeting plenary session will be dedicated to the ESRF-EBS.

The ESRF User Meeting is an ideal forum for exchange among users and with the ESRF staff, whether it be to discuss the EBS project or to stimulate new proposals and ideas. The ESRF user community is warmly invited to participate through the submission of abstracts and posters and by meeting together onsite for discussion, interaction and networking

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Monday 6 February 2017

  TUTORIALS FOR USERS

Eight tutorials on a range of different scientific topics, including a workshop on Scientific Communication & Social Media and a meeting for MX BAG Responsibles, will be organised and offered to users on the first day of the event. The tutorials last from several hours up to 1 day, and in many cases the number of participants is limited; those interested are therefore invited to register as soon as possible after registration opens. Each tutorial will be animated by experts, either from the local staff or external experts, and we encourage you to take this opportunity to work closely with these experts and with users of similar interests and requirements.
