You will participate in ongoing in-house research programs, the running of the Beamline and providing support to external users as local contact.

In particular, you will join in the effort of the group to upgrade the performance of the experimental end-station ID09B and to develop experimental techniques related to time-resolved diffraction and scattering in chemical and biological systems. The overall aim is to visualise the motion of atoms and molecules excited by short laser pulses. The time resolution is obtained via pump and probe: a short laser pulses excite specific molecules in the system and the diffraction (or scattering) from delayed X-ray pulses probe the transient structures. Current research topics cover ultrafast phase transitions in solids, solution phase dynamics and protein dynamics. You will also be encouraged to develop your own research projects, which should exploit the unique ID09B beamline capabilities (for further information about the instrument/instrumentation please have a look http://www.esrf.fr/UsersAndScience/Experiments/SoftMatter/ID09B/).
